Journey through the forest with our smart interpretive App easily downloaded to your phone or tablet and available in English or Chinese.
You can discover the area’s ancient history, learn about the surroundings and its inhabitants or hear the heartbreaking Black Saturday stories.
Travel through time
Walk through, breath in and feel the history of our forest that was once the ocean floor. Reinvigorated by the 2009 fires, it is again an incredibly vibrant ecosystem. Watch our many time lapse footage from 18 locations that tracked the regeneration over the first years – nature is truly amazing. Find your peace amongst the century old ferns lining the King Parrot Creek.
Meet the locals
Meander with the local wildlife. Meet our friendly wallabies or witness the kangaroos and echidnas, discover many wombat burrows and see possum nests. And be immersed in the colour and song of our bird life including kookaburras, rosellas, white, black and Gang Gang cockatoos, king parrots, honeyeaters, wedged tail eagles and the illusive lyrebird.
Discover our story
Originally an internment camp for prisoners of war in the 1940s, Kinglake Forest Adventures accommodation was first opened in 1944 before heartbreakingly being completely destroyed by the Black Saturday fires in 2009. Today it has been lovingly rebuilt by the French family.
